From Friday, October 23rd, between 3 PM and 10 PM, storm Austen is expected to reach the country. The southerly wind will increase and gradually shift to the southwest and then west. In the western part of the country, gusts of 90 km/h or more may occur. At sea, gusts exceeding 100 km/h are predicted. Elsewhere in the province, wind gusts could range between 80 and 90 km/h.
Due to the expected wind gusts and associated risks, certain areas will be closed under code orange. Access to the Vrijbos and Martjedreef will be restricted to ensure public safety.
