The pedestrian tunnel in Duinbergen is undergoing an artistic transformation with the mural ‘Tide Shift’ by artist Guillaume Gombault, aiming to symbolize the transition from urban bustle to the tranquility of the sea.

Inspired by childhood memories of the coast, the design features a gradual transition from an architectural labyrinth of buildings and stairs to a landscape of dunes, beach, and sea. Colorful elements like parasols, sailboats, and mini-golf outings are incorporated into the vibrant design.
Gombault's design was selected following an open call at the end of 2025, which attracted around twenty artists. A jury comprising representatives from the Culture Council, MAAK, and the Cultural Centre unanimously chose his proposal.
The artist is currently finalizing the mural. Although the official inauguration is scheduled for November, ‘Tide Shift’ can already be admired.
