The municipality of Deerlijk is establishing a volunteer corps to support emergency services during crises such as floods or extreme weather.

Volunteers can assist with tasks like food distribution, post-storm cleanup efforts, or setting up shelters. They will provide logistical support coordinated by the municipality, supplementing the work of professional emergency services.
In collaboration with the Red Cross Flanders, the municipality will provide the necessary training and guidance. To join, applicants must be at least 16 years old, have a clean criminal record, and be willing to undergo training.
During the information session on Tuesday, December 1, 2026, at 6 PM in the wedding hall of the Deerlijk town hall, interested individuals will receive details about the corps' operations, potential tasks, and training. Information on how volunteers are called upon during emergencies will also be provided. Participation in the info session and subsequent training is free.
Registration for the info session can be done via noodplanning@deerlijk.be.
