The municipality of Deerlijk has received the very first award for social cohesion for its Tettercamionette project. This initiative brings residents together in neighborhoods where social connection is less self-evident.

During the Inspiration Day Social Cohesion, Deerlijk was honored with the very first award for social cohesion. This recognition applies to both the Tettercamionette and the colleagues Delphine and Miek.
The Tetterdames (Chat Ladies) go out with coffee and treats to neighborhoods where social connection is less self-evident. They listen to the experiences and needs of the residents. For example, the Tettertafel (Chat Table), a monthly opportunity to practice Dutch, originated from the request of non-native speakers to practice Dutch more often.
This approach fits within the municipality's multi-year plan 2026-2031, which aims for proactive, accessible, and community-oriented services. The Tettercamionette helps to pick up signals from the neighborhoods and respond to them effectively.
The municipality is proud of this recognition and thanks all residents who contribute to making connections possible. Thanks also to the Agency for Integration and Civic Integration and the Agency for Internal Affairs for the organization, the exchange, and this wonderful recognition.
