Café Onbespreekbaar, an initiative by Jef Willem and Nicolas Overmeire, will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, at JC De Kazerne in Halle. The aim is to provide a space for young people aged 16 to 30 for an honest conversation about topics such as performance pressure, fear of failure, identity, and expectations. The evening promises humor, recognition, and an open dialogue without taboos or judgment.
Recent figures indicate that one in five Flemish young people regularly feels unhappy, and one in three experiences mood swings, nervousness, or sleep problems. Preventiewerking Zennevallei aims to give young people the opportunity to talk openly about their experiences with this initiative. The focus is on sharing relatable stories and insights, rather than preachy advice.
Yani Vandermot, youth welfare worker at OverKop Halle, emphasizes the importance of a safe environment: “At the OverKop house, we meet young people weekly who find it difficult to articulate what they are feeling. Some themes still feel like something you'd rather keep silent about. At OverKop, we create a safe space where themes, questions, and feelings are always discussable. We listen without judgment and work according to the young people's pace and needs.”
The event will take place on Friday, October 16, 2026. Doors open at 7:00 PM, and the program starts at 7:30 PM. Participation is free and aimed at young people aged 16 to 30. The location is JC De Kazerne, Leide 3, 1500 Halle.
Preventiewerking Zennevallei is a collaborative effort led by Eerstelijnszone Zennevallei, involving various local partners such as AZ Sint-Maria Halle and the local authorities of several municipalities in the region. The goal is to promote prevention and health gains for the residents of the Zennevallei.
