The E40 highway will be interrupted in both directions this weekend and next for the installation of a pylon for a cable-stayed bridge. Traffic will be diverted via the E314, E313, or E411 and E42, or via the ring road around Leuven for local traffic.

The E40 will be closed in both directions from Friday, October 30th at 8:00 PM to Monday, November 2nd at 2:00 AM. On the night of Sunday to Monday, both directions will be reopened by 2:00 AM at the latest. Afterwards, 2 lanes will be available in the direction of Brussels and 3 lanes in the direction of Liège.
A second closure of the E40 is planned from Friday, November 6th at 8:00 PM to Monday, November 9th at 2:00 AM. On that occasion too, both directions will be reopened by 2:00 AM at the latest on Sunday night. Afterwards, 3 lanes will be available again in both directions towards Brussels and Liège. After this second weekend, the on-ramp from the E314 to the E40 towards Liège and the exit to the Heverlee-Zuid highway parking will no longer be shortened.
Regional traffic between Brussels and Liège will be diverted during both weekends via the E314 and E313, or via the E411 and E42. Local traffic will follow a diversion via the ring road around Leuven. A diversion plan is attached.
