During this educational three-day event, students actively and playfully engaged with fair trade, sustainability, and global citizenship. Throughout the morning, children in small groups participated in various workshops. They worked with fair trade products during cooking workshops and tested their understanding in an escaperoom focused on the donut economy, thus discovering in an accessible way how daily choices impact people and the environment.
In the afternoon, it was time for the humorous and exciting theater performance BOOM by Eric cLaVie, featuring peculiar characters targeting the last tree in a world where almost everything is made of plastic.
Through Fair Trade@School, the local government aims to make children aware of fair trade and sustainable consumption from a young age. By combining knowledge and interaction, these themes become tangible and understandable. With this initiative, Beersel, as a fair trade municipality, contributes step by step to a world where respect for people and the environment is self-evident.
