The annual (cycling) summer quest in Sint-Gillis-Waas took participants on a journey through time this year. The quest relived highlights from the history of the municipality and its sub-municipalities, as they were portrayed in 2001 by over one hundred and seventy actors and extras on the Kerkplein. The route covered prehistory, the Middle Ages, the French period, and the major wars of the twentieth century.
On October 14, a festive award ceremony with a reception was held for all participants. A total of 253 fully completed forms were received. Raymond Duym won the main prize: a 250 euro voucher for Vlaanderen Vakantieland. The 2nd, 3rd, 10th, 25th, and 50th place winners also received prizes.
