The exhibition focuses on the period when Leo Piron and Valerius De Saedeleer were active in Etikhove. In the 1920s, their presence attracted many artistic acquaintances, including names like the Haesaerts brothers, Jean Milo, Ramah, and Willem Van Rijswijck. These figures frequently visited De Saedeleer and his family, creating a vibrant meeting place for art, friendship, and inspiration.
Based on this special period, Stefan Van Den Bossche wrote the book “Etikhove 1925-1930, a cultural history”. The official presentation of this work will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Maarkedal.
Visitors to the exhibition will not only see the artworks of Leo Piron but also discover the specific role he played during that period. The exhibition highlights why Piron is as remarkable as his father-in-law, the renowned artist Valerius De Saedeleer.
