To improve traffic safety and pedestrian accessibility in the commercial zone along Steenweg (N405), new sidewalks have recently been constructed between house numbers 379 and 403. This area, located towards Ninove, includes businesses such as Fashion Forum and Topidee. The new 1.5-meter wide sidewalk, extending approximately 135 meters along the west side of the N405, provides a safe and comfortable connection to the shops.
Furthermore, following the local administration's insistence with the Agency for Roads and Traffic (AWV), an additional pedestrian crossing has been established at the intersection of the N405 and Opgeëistenstraat (near house number 512). This new zebra crossing facilitates safer street crossing and improves access to the surrounding businesses.
The construction of the additional sidewalks was a prerequisite from AWV for the realization of the extra zebra crossing. The local administration's investment in these infrastructure works has now been completed, highlighting the collaboration between the two entities.
