The Landscape Park Flemish Ardennen has been nominated for the public prize of the prestigious The Good Wave Awards 2026, an initiative of the Boudewijnstichting (King Baudouin Foundation). The project “Gedeelde Grond”, which supports farmers in transitioning to more sustainable agricultural practices by providing specialized machinery, is in contention for the award. Voting is open until October 26.
With support from Vlaanderen Circulair (Flanders Circular), the Landscape Park launched a regional sharing system for non-standard agricultural machinery in the spring of 2026. This initiative helps farmers test sustainable techniques without making significant investments. The first machine supports, among other things, working with green manure crops and improving soil quality, aiming for more natural soil enrichment, reduced erosion, and more resilient agriculture in the Flemish Ardennes.
The project, a collaboration with the CENter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship (CENSE) at Odisee University College, has already seen its first round of use with about ten farmers spread across the participating municipalities of the Landscape Park. The initiative focuses not only on machinery use but also on knowledge sharing and tailored guidance for the region.
“"I am particularly pleased that, as a young organization, we are immediately advancing trajectories that can have a positive impact on the Flemish Ardennes."
The Good Wave Awards recognize effective climate actions that genuinely encourage people to change their behavior, focusing on themes such as food, energy, mobility, sharing, and reuse. In addition to jury prizes, a public award is presented, for which online voting is open.
The Landscape Park calls on residents, farmers, partners, and supporters to cast their vote. "A vote for our project is a statement of support for innovative collaboration between agriculture, landscape, and climate, and for the farmers who work every day towards a future-oriented region," explains coordinator Lieven De Stoppeleire.
Voting is open until October 26 via the The Good Wave Awards website. More information is available through a YouTube recording. The organization thanks Vlaanderen Circulair and the CENSE of Odisee University College for their support.
