The initiative 'Water as Fabric' (wAw) promises a year of activities centered around water, heritage, nature, culture, sports, and meeting. All initiatives that bring people together around the canal or connection are welcome. Ideas include walking or cycling tours, neighborhood parties, exhibitions, performances, creative workshops, or nature and heritage activities.
Activities can take place during the celebratory weekend from June 11 to 13, 2027, or throughout the summer of 2027. During the main weekend, the focus will be on Kerkbrugge-Langerbrugge, Doornzele, and Rieme, but activities in other locations within Evergem are also possible.
Collaborations with other associations or organizations, including cross-border initiatives with partners from other canal municipalities, are encouraged. Inspiration can be found in the Canal Prize for visual artists, an initiative by the municipal cultural council, offering prizes up to 1,000 euros. Participation in this competition is open until January 31, 2027.
