Over 300 new residents of Pelt were welcomed at the region's largest baby reception, organized by the municipality in collaboration with Wiegwijs and local family associations.

The largest baby reception in the area took place this year at Belevingscampus De Stroming on Kerkplein in Neerpelt. The municipality of Pelt has been organizing this event for several years, with the support of organizations such as Wiegwijs and the Peltse Gezinsbonden. The venue, where many newborns have already visited the Kind en Gezin health center, provided a suitable setting for welcoming new parents.
Newly arrived parents had the opportunity to meet various organizations that offer support during their children's upbringing and development. During a shared breakfast, attending mothers, fathers, foster parents, and step-parents could network. Volunteers from Wiegwijs were present to offer advice for the children's early years.
There was plenty of entertainment for the youngest attendees, including face painting, glitter tattoos, a bouncy castle, and a reading corner. Fun family moments were captured in the photo booth. The mascots Mo and Flo provided an interactive meet and greet with the children.

"All the new little Pelt residents went home with a nice souvenir. But the great gift that the Pelt administration actually wants to offer the children is a strong municipality that can offer them every opportunity: to grow up, go to school, live, and fully develop their talents."

Katrien Kenis · Alderman for Family Affairs
Alderman for Family Affairs Katrien Kenis emphasized the municipality's commitment to being a 'child-friendly' community with well-developed initiatives for childcare, quality leisure activities, and parenting support. These services are now consolidated at De Stroming, where the Huis van het Kind (House of the Child) serves as a central point for all parenting questions and issues.
