Many young people take on care responsibilities at home, provide assistance, or worry about loved ones, yet their role often remains unseen. They assume responsibilities not typically expected of their age, which can lead to them feeling misunderstood. To make these young individuals visible, Wommelgem is organizing the Week of the Young Caregiver from October 26 to 30.
Throughout this week, the local administration will share a daily cartoon and an authentic testimony from a young caregiver via @jeugdinwommelgem. The aim is to increase awareness of the issue of young caregivers.
“"Caregivers can also count on support in Wommelgem. The local administration provides a caregiver allowance of 30 euros per month for those who regularly care for a dependent person in their environment."
