The week begins on Monday, November 16, with a practical training session on resuscitation and AED use, offered in two sessions from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM and from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM in room Klaproos. Participation is free, but registration is required by November 12 via gezondheid@westerlo.be or 014 53 92 10. There is space for a maximum of 20 participants per hour. In the afternoon, at 2 PM in room 't Rietje, a fun quiz afternoon will take place. Participants can register individually or in teams of two to four people. Registration is open until November 12 via karin.bervoets@westerlo.be or 014 53 92 04.
On Tuesday, November 17, a breakfast is scheduled for home-dwelling 80-plussers and their caregivers, from 9 AM to 10:30 AM in room 't Rietje. This free breakfast is prepared by the kitchen team of the residential care center and volunteers. Registration is required by November 12 via an online form. In the afternoon, at 2 PM in room 't Rietje, there will be a musical performance by Tom Waterschoot and Rudi Rycken, featuring Dutch and English classics from the sixties to today. This performance is free and does not require registration.
Wednesday, November 18, starts at 1 PM (starting at 2 PM) with a card game afternoon in the cafeteria behind the town hall. This is free and requires no registration. From 1 PM to 3 PM, traditional folk games such as sjoelbak and ring toss will be organized in sports hall De Beeltjens. This is also free and requires no registration. In the evening, from 6 PM to 9 PM, there will be Linedance in room 't Rietje, costing 3 euros payable on site. At 7 PM, Hedda Van Braeckel, Master in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy, will give a free lecture in the library on strength training and osteoporosis.
On Thursday, November 19, at 7 PM in the cafeteria behind the town hall, a lecture on cycling legend Eddy Merckx will be held, presented by Johny Vansevenant. Eddy Merckx himself will also be present. The lecture costs 5 euros, including a drink, and registration is open until November 16 via karin.bervoets@westerlo.be or 014 53 92 04.
The week concludes on Friday, November 20, with various activities. At 1 PM, there will be Petanque at the cafeteria behind the town hall (free). At 1:30 PM, you can play kegelen at the same cafeteria, with costs depending on the number of participants (maximum 5.50 euros). From 6 PM to 9 PM, there will be another Linedance session in room 't Rietje (3 euros payable on site). Finally, from 12 PM to 4 PM, there will be open swimming at the De Beeltjens Swimming Pool at Kasteelpark 6 for 2.10 euros.
The cafeteria at Lokaal Dienstencentrum TerHarte is open on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 2 PM to 5 PM. The cafeteria behind the town hall is open daily (except Saturdays) from 1 PM to 6:30 PM.
