Within the framework of the ‘Week of the Sustainable Municipality’ and the campaign 'Local Heroes for Global Goals', the Mamadepot of Nijlen has been nominated. Through their work, they contribute to three of the United Nations' sustainable development goals: responsible consumption and production, poverty reduction, and achieving results through partnerships.
The campaign 'Local Heroes for Global Goals' aims to recognize committed residents, associations, and organizations. The people behind our Mamadepot truly deserve this recognition.
In December 2024, Ferm Mamadepot Nijlen started in the Wolmolen to offer second-hand items for babies and children up to 12 years old at very accessible prices. This gives baby items, children's clothing, and toys a second life, promoting sustainable handling of goods. Thanks to affordable prices and discount cards for low-income groups, they make these items accessible to everyone.
The operation of this enthusiastic group of volunteers is a fine example of how partnerships achieve goals. Ferm Mamadepot Nijlen is a collaboration between Ferm, the local government of Nijlen, the Huis van het Kind (House of the Child), and is supported by Cera.
The local heroes of the Mamadepot will be invited to the celebration on November 11.
