Hundreds of organizations across Flanders are hosting events to foster mental well-being and connect people. Mortsel is also participating, encouraging all residents to get involved.
Residents can show their support for mental well-being by writing a poem, text, or drawing on their window. Free chalk pens are available at the Mortsel city reception. For inspiration, a selection from ‘Hersenspinsels’, the debut work by Mortsel author Kato Maes, is provided. Maes shared her experiences with mental challenges at age 14 through her poetry.
The theme for the 10-day event is 'Being Well Surrounded', which is central to the activities organized in Mortsel.
On Thursday, October 1st, the contact choir from Meerminnehof care home will perform at the Mark Liebrecht Schouwburg. On the same day, an sold-out lecture by Peter Adriaenssens will offer guidance for parents navigating the turbulent teenage years. On Monday, October 5th, Huis van het Kind is organizing an information evening about bullying. On Saturday, October 10th, 'Being Britney' by Colette Goossens will be presented, addressing psychoses and psychological vulnerability.
Zorggroep Multiversum recognizes the importance of being well-surrounded and will host an open day on October 11th, including a trail run through their campus.
More information about the 10-day event can be found online at www.mortsel.be/samenveerkrachtig. The September/October issue of the M magazine also features interviews with authors Kato Maes and Colette Goossens and is available online at www.mortsel.be/M.
