The municipality of Lille has planned the construction of a new leisure center at the Molenvelden site in Gierle. Before the actual construction work can commence, a mandatory archaeological investigation is necessary. This research will start on Tuesday, November 10th, and is expected to take a few weeks.
The municipal council already approved the tender guidelines for the design and construction of the center on October 28, 2026. The start of the archaeological research marks the next phase in this project.
