The local council of Gierle is planning the construction of a new, versatile leisure center at the Molenvelden site. The center is intended to be a contemporary meeting place for associations, residents, and visitors, featuring a multi-purpose hall for 400 people, a creative space, and a green recreational zone.

Through this initiative, the council aims to create a space that strengthens community life. The Molenvelden site, which already houses the youth club premises and a skate park, will gain a significant new link with the leisure center, designed to attract both young and old.
The new center will include a large multi-purpose hall that can be flexibly divided into three separate spaces. This hall can be used for various activities such as parties, theater performances, workshops, meetings, association gatherings, coffee mornings, and family celebrations. Additionally, the project includes a creative space for local harmony rehearsals and music academy classes, a foyer, storage rooms, and a semi-professional kitchen.
The outdoor environment will feature a green recreational zone, bicycle parking, and parking facilities. The building will have an open and accessible appearance, complementing nearby amenities like the school, childcare, youth services, play areas, and sports infrastructure. Significant attention is also given to traffic safety, with secure cycling connections and safe crossing points.
The design and construction contract is estimated at 4 million euros. The municipal council will award the contract through a competitive procedure with negotiation to arrive at the best possible solution for the site.
