From Thursday, October 1, at 10 PM to Monday, October 5, at 5 AM, the two bridge sections of the old R1 towards the Netherlands will be demolished. Consequently, the Schijnpoortweg will be closed in both directions under the viaduct. Local car traffic will be diverted via Theunisbrug – Groenendaallaan – Noorderlaan – Slachthuislaan, or via Noordersingel – Turnhoutsebaan – Lakborslei – Bisschoppenhoflaan. Cyclists and pedestrians will follow a detour behind the AFAS Dome and the Lotto Arena.
