Breast cancer affects not only women but also men. Because it is rare and many people are unaware that men can develop breast cancer, diagnosis is often delayed in these cases, sometimes too late. To raise awareness, October 7th is now designated as the International Day of the Male Breast Cancer.
When a man is confronted with breast cancer, many questions arise: ‘Why am I, as a man, getting breast cancer? Are there doctors specialized in male breast cancer? Am I the only one?’
These questions can be addressed to the non-profit organization BorstkankerMAN, founded by five patients. The organization aims to support every male patient with advice and information. Furthermore, they wish to inform the general public about the existence of male breast cancer, as knowledge can save lives.
