The city of Geel is seeking twelve jurors for its Citizen Budget initiative, with a particular focus on five districts, to help decide which local projects receive funding.

For the third edition of the Citizen Budget, the city of Geel is allocating 100,000 euros for ideas that will improve or beautify neighborhoods, districts, or the entire city. Residents can vote for their three favorite projects from September 24 to October 15. Projects receiving over 100 votes will advance to the final round, where the participation council and a citizen jury will determine which ones receive funding.
The city is specifically seeking candidates from the districts of Punt, Larum, Sint-Amands, Holven, and Winkelomheide. The citizen jury, composed of twelve residents from Geel, aims to reflect the diversity of these districts. Although 1200 residents were randomly invited in September, suitable candidates are still needed for these five areas.
Selected jury members are expected to attend two Saturday sessions, both from 9 AM to 1 PM: on October 17 for an introduction to the projects and the jury's process, and on October 24 to discuss the projects and help decide on budget allocation.
Interested individuals who wish to help decide which projects will add more color to Geel can put themselves forward. Applications can be submitted via email to burgerbudget@geel.be or by calling the organization development team at 014 56 60 75.
