The enclave council of Baarle-Hertog and Baarle-Nassau has approved an extra budget of € 588,705.88 for the furnishing of the new cultural center De Loswal, which will open its doors in April 2027.

The joint council meeting of Baarle-Hertog and Baarle-Nassau on Thursday, October 1, approved the allocation of an additional budget for the furnishing of the new cultural center De Loswal. This will allow for the preparation of the building's outfitting in the coming months and timely placement of necessary orders.
The construction of the new cultural center on Loswal is proceeding according to schedule. The building is now wind- and watertight, and finishing works are well underway. The expected handover is planned for February 1, 2027, after which the interior will be furnished with furniture, theater equipment, ICT facilities, kitchen fittings, and other essential provisions. The center is anticipated to be operational by April 2027.
The municipalities of Baarle-Hertog and Baarle-Nassau, together with the stichting cultuurcentrum Baarle and various specialized consultants, have mapped out the complete interior of the new facility. The choice has been made for a contemporary and functional design that aligns with the appearance and intended use of the new cultural center.
The total estimated investment costs for the furnishing amount to € 1,724,542.88. Previously, several budgets and contributions had already been allocated for the interior. With the approval of an additional credit of € 588,705.88, sufficient funds are now available for a complete and fitting interior. According to the agreed-upon distribution key, Baarle-Nassau contributes € 416,215.06 and Baarle-Hertog contributes € 172,490.82.
For certain spaces, such as the creative workshop and specific storage areas, existing inventory will be reused. However, for the majority of the building, new interior elements will be chosen, ensuring visitors can expect a modern and uniform appearance from the opening.
The approval of the additional budget marks another significant step towards the opening of the De Loswal cultural center. The building will serve as a central meeting point for the residents of both Baarles, offering space for culture, social gatherings, library services, tourism, education, and community activities.
